When working, I need to run around and do different things, get stuff everywhere.
That, is when I realised there are some people who claim they are blind / deaf and ask for donations.
Personally I saw two who claimed to be deaf and they are selling light-stick toys for RM15 each as donation. The cards that they carry did not identify them or the organisation that they are with. These two persons, one woman and one man, always walk around in the city area and target mainly cafes.
As for the person who claim he is blind, I can see that one eye of his has white film growth but similarly his card does not identify him or the organisation that confirms his disability in earning a living.
I looked up associations that help these disabled people online, and only found one in Miri - Miri Deaf Association. I wonder if the people are genuinely disabled in earning a living, shouldn't these organisations have ways of providing proof for the people to identify themselves and reduce scams? Until then, the public will remain sceptical on the genuineness of the people asking for donation.
As for disabled persons, I notice that the Immigration Department in Miri has provided special sofa seats for them, however the public is not allowed to use the lift/elevator, so are the disabled people suppose to ride the escalator with their wheel chairs? Hm...maybe Magneto from X-Men can help.
