To my surprise they prepared a lot of good picnic food, and though the day was hot, the evening was surprisingly pleasant. So with the sun setting across the Swan River, casting long shadows from the palm trees lining the Riverside Drive, and the moon rising over the towers of apartments, I was having a good time with the food and the company. It went even better when the orchestra started.
One of the songs that I remembered most clearly was a piece from the Schindler's List. Although I haven't watched this movie, the piece felt so sad. Then when I wikied it, I realised why it was so sad. It is really a good movie that I will find and watch, so if you haven't watch it / want to watch it again - let me know and watch together!
Then the orchestra played pieces like Handel's Messiah - Hallelujah, and one of the piece from Lord of the Rings. They were good. However I almost fell asleep during the 1812 Overture (the last piece on the list, but there was encore), only to be woken up by the fireworks that accompanied it.
I have to say that the fireworks are really nice touch to the ending of the event, and adding on to a good ending - the orderly Australian culture to give way and line up and exit the place.
*Side note: Random facts
Karaoke - Kara (is empty/zero in Japanese) + Oke (Japanese corruption/adaptation of orchestra) = the no-man orchestra producing music.
