Preparing for Chinese New Year

It is going to be the year of the Dragon. Water Dragon to be exact, the water element is associated with the first of the double Chinese character that denotes each Chinese year. As usual, there is a lot of things happening during this week leading up to the Chinese New Year at home.

We need to clean the house, in and out. That means wiping clean the gate, the fence, windows, doors, wall...etc. My brother and I also set out on a project to paint the interior of our house. Most of the walls are already painted but we haven't decided on the colour of our doors, the first colour that I bought came out to be too dull (bah, colour...I always have headache over it). Maybe it is because the colour is light and thus need an undercoat to cover up the previous colour. Anyway, we think we need to get another colour.

Cleaning and painting, that is the first thing, then we are going to prepare the snacks and biscuits. Most of our snacks are bought, but this year we want to save a bit and since we have the recipe and manpower, we decided to make some simple snacks. Photos will be coming up when we are done with them ^.^

Finally, we gotta 'festivise' the house.Haha. Just simple decorations on the doors and walls, and a simple festive flower decoration. When we are done, I will post up photos too.

I am still working till tomorrow afternoon, so most of the things will only get done at night or on Thursday and Friday. Wah...Chinese New Year is really near!
