Bear

Bear.

Yeah, it is Bear, but not that bear. It is Bear Grylls.
I like to watch his show- Bear vs. Wild. It is fun to watch and it is so interesting to see what type of food there are when the environment is extreme. Today, I watched him eat deer droppings!

In one of his interviews, Bear mentioned his faith is important to his life. In today's episode, he said that even in the city one will feel lonely, although he is in the wild but he knows that God is always with him.

It is true. This period of time, everyone seems to be busy connecting to other people, through online messages, social network sites, emails, sms, tweeter, and the list goes on. When the smart phone is on (no matter what it is, be it HTC, Samsung, IPhone, BlackBerry...), one forms part of the invisible fabric that covers this world. One is consumed by this fabric, although living in this world but the mental space is away from the physical space.

Maybe that's why I didn't get a smart phone although I do wish my phone has all the cool apps. I know how much being electronically connected means physically disconnected. Once, I lived my life from university to laptop, and that's it. It is so tempting to just engage in your own little world of virtual reality, and not worry about the unpredictability of human interactions.

I wonder what is this sudden emotion that overwhelms me, and the calmness in my heart just rippled with a random disturbance; genuine relationships take time, and they need shared experience to grow. I am glad to know God, and I want to keep a child-like faith, one that asks Him to be my friend, who enjoys my happiness and share my burden together.

It is so quiet now. The street lights are blinking like stars in the sky. And I pray that He shall always be the lamp unto my feet, and the light unto my path.
