Yup. Today is the final day before my summer holiday in Miri ends. Bah. I guess I feel the same everytime I fly back to Perth. DON'T LIKE IT...Although I packed my luggage and hand-carry since 2 days ago, I haven't packed my heart to set sail back to Perth (well, set sail as in figuratively set sail...right...I don't need to clarify that...).
Miri is changing, and so am I. Though, I wish something would never change, like the playground at Tanjung Lobang there. My favourite hide-and-seek train is gone, no more exhilarating slides and climbs, no more wooden see-saws and no more swings like olden days. Heard from one of the stall owners that ShinYang has bought the whole piece of land opposite Taman Selera and plan to develop high-rise luxurious apartments same as the 2 being built. There is gonna be a night club and restaurant at Taman Selera and all the stalls are going to be moved to 1st floor. Well. Obviously the whole place is gonna change. The spirit of the place is being destroyed. I guess that's why our lecturer taught us to know and to design with the spirit of the place, the Genius Loci.
Don't wanna leave my precious hometown, don't wanna leave my family, don't wanna face challenges in a foreign country. But hey, I gotta be a man, a full man in my own right, a wise man that can handle life well, so I will leave. Perth, I am going to be back soon.
