After
almost 12 hours of travelling, I am finally home in Miri. When I stepped out of
Miri Airport, a rush of humid air filled my nostrils. The familiar smell of
tropical air welcomed me, alongside with vehicle exhaust and smoker’s huff puff
outside the airport’s glass sliding doors. The sky wasn’t bright when I reached
Miri yesterday, and it rained heavily yesterday night. Well, I felt at home. For
me, rain is always welcomed.
I didn’t do
much yesterday besides unpacking my luggage and cleared the shelves in living
room. Fuiyoh. There is a lot of stuff that I decided to take off the shelves
and make them tidier. Maybe I should take off some of the puzzles on the walls
as well, but I haven’t done that yet. Having chatted with my aunt and dad, I
felt quite gloomy, for all the politics and dirty tricks that politicians
played to stay in power. How am I supposed to work here?
I know that
I am coming back home to work after I graduate as I prayed for it before. There
was peace as I decided to come home, and there is a continuous passion for
society back here. I would say that the only thing that is holding me back for
working towards social development in Sarawak is that I might not earn enough
for my family. And yes, you have guessed it, I prayed for that too. This
morning, when I have a chat with my aunt, she told me that my other aunts and
grandma have decided to depend on Jesus, believing Him. I know that God is
taking care of my family, and my heart felt as if a ray of light broke through
a cloudy sky. Living on a prayer, that is what I should continue to do.
PS: (By the
way, PS stands for Post Script, meaning the stuff you add after you finish the
main letter/communication, haha, another of my random facts)
I had my
first kolo mee since February when I went to Perth to study. Yeah, I know Perth
has a Kitchen Inn, which sells kampua, but that is still different from the
kolo mee noodle. I also ordered a Kopi C (if in westerner’s terms, filtered
coffee with fresh milk and sugar) with it and the meal only cost RM3.20! (For
my East Malaysian friends in Perth, don’t jealous, huhu, well you have larger
portions and fresher air)
Oh yeah,
and why would peanuts not contain peanuts? Guess common sense is not so common
after all.
