Yesterday night my friend and I went to volunteer for ushering at Shine Assembly for Commonwealth Prayer Initiative, a free public assembly to pray for the coming CHOGM (Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting) which will be held from 28-30th October 2011 in Perth.
The prayer is extended for each of the aspects of CHOGM because CHOGM is an important event with a high security risk. Imagine all of the heads of government and their delegate group here. Just knew Sonshine FM is spelled as S-O-N...always thought it is Sun...lol. By the way for those who want to tune in, it is 98.5FM.
Anyway, after Shine we went to Uncle Billy's for late dinner, super hungry, but we waited for another group of friends who joined us for the meal. (Incredible, they actually have a website - albeit a blogspot site but hey, they took the initiative to make one) The yam-duck was as nice as always, and the preserved vege-with-pork belly (梅菜扣肉 if you know mandarin) was awesome, well, I have to admit I have a thing for the latter, but good ones are hard to find. My grandpa from mum's side knows how to make it, and I 'observed' before - so many procedures: need to blanch the pork, cut, deep-fry and steam it with a particular kind of preserved chinese green, but it is always worth the effort!
Today, woke up at 7am, then did a bit of reading and devotion as well, but the bed seems so nice after that so I went back on it, haha, and I slept till 12! Geng, after that I made brunch with some left-overs from yesterday and here I am reading newsfeed on facebook and news on websites.
I came across the news on Gaddaffi's capture and kill. He is indeed a tyrant, and the world's governments have wanted to punish him for the crimes against humanity. I wonder if he ever regreted for his actions?
Life is too short isn't it?
For most of us, the starting of our lives is not smooth. We do not have high social status, we are not sons and daughters of presidents and CEOs, we do not have fine-dining every now and then, we do not have our private jets. Are we just going to complaint and not going to anything?
Life is equal for all, for the most important equity of life is time. Time, is limited. No wonder so many people wish there is a time machine. Don't you? If you are not then you are among the blessed ones to have no regrets. I do wish there is a time machine, but since there is none, I look forward to each day to be a better me. Take the time, and do good with it.
In 2 Corinthians 8:7-15, Paul wrote to the Church of Corinth to encourage generosity, and this is what he wrote:
7 But since you excel in
everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness
and in the love we have kindled in you—see that you also excel in this grace of giving.
8 I am not commanding you, but I want to test the sincerity of your love by comparing it with the earnestness of others. 9
For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was
rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you through his poverty
might become rich.
10
And here is my judgment about what is best for you in this matter. Last
year you were the first not only to give but also to have the desire to
do so. 11 Now finish the work, so that your eager willingness to do it may be matched by your completion of it, according to your means. 12 For if the willingness is there, the gift is acceptable according to what one has, not according to what one does not have.
13 Our desire is not that others might be relieved while you are hard pressed, but that there might be equality. 14
At the present time your plenty will supply what they need, so that in
turn their plenty will supply what you need. The goal is equality, 15 as it is written: “The one who gathered much did not have too much, and the one who gathered little did not have too little.”
Time, is one commodity that I think we are able to give others, isn't it? Instead of giving it for games, for reading gossips, for watching endless dramas, why don't we use it to do good to others? For love, includes sacrifice, and time is one way you can love others with. Have you given your time for your loved ones? This is my way of doing it - cooking! What's yours?
